There are different seasons that we face throughout this thing called life. Some seasons stretch us. Some seasons break us. Some seasons build us.
And then there’s the season of rest.
For many women, this may be one of the hardest seasons to embrace.
We are used to moving.
Used to carrying.
Used to fixing.
Used to nurturing everyone else.
But resting? Truly resting? That can feel uncomfortable.
Rest Looks Different for Everyone
Rest for me may not look like rest for you.
For some, rest may mean taking a nap without guilt.
For others, it may mean unplugging from social media.
For someone else, it might look like sitting in the sauna, getting a mani and pedi, going for a quiet walk, or simply watching TV without multitasking.
Rest is not one-size-fits-all.
And rest does not always mean lying in the bed all day — although sometimes, it absolutely can mean that.
Rest is intentional restoration.
Rest Is Not Laziness
Somewhere along the way, many of us were conditioned to believe that productivity equals worth. If we aren’t moving, doing, producing, helping — we feel unproductive. We feel guilty.
But rest is not laziness.
Rest is preparation.
Rest is the sacred space between what was and what is coming next.
Creativity Is Born in Rest
A lot of creativity comes out of rest.
When your mind is no longer overwhelmed…
When your spirit is no longer striving…
When you stop constantly pouring out…
That is when fresh ideas begin to surface.
That is when clarity begins to form.
That is when vision begins to sharpen.
Rest gives your mind room to breathe.
It gives your soul room to hear.
Rest Is an Inside Job
During seasons of rest, you have to be very in tune. Very intentional.
Because rest isn’t just about what you’re doing externally — it’s about what’s happening internally.
It’s a season to:
• Reflect
• Heal
• Rebuild
• Re-center
• Nurture yourself
It’s a season where you prepare your mind mentally for what God is going to do in the next chapter.
And the beautiful part?
You don’t have to force anything.
You can simply sit back, be still, and allow God to pour into you.
That’s where you begin to realize He is working in you.
He is reshaping you.
He is strengthening you.
He is doing things from the inside out.
Rest Is Trust
Rest requires trust.
Trust that you don’t have to hold everything together.
Trust that you don’t have to figure everything out.
Trust that even when you’re not moving, God still is.
Sometimes the most powerful growth doesn’t happen in motion.
It happens in stillness.
And maybe — just maybe — this season of rest isn’t a pause in your purpose.
It’s preparation for it.
